Mark A. R. Kleiman is Professor of Policy Studies at University of California at Los Angeles. He was previously an Associate Professor of Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. His primary research topics include drug policy and crime control. He authored "Controlling Drug Use and Crime Among California's Drug-Involved Offenders: Testing, Sanctions, and Treatment" in conjunction with The School of Public Policy and Social Research, University of California, and the University of California Anderson Forecast. In addition to the publications listed above he has written a number of articles on crime control topics.From 1979 to 1983, he worked for the Office of Policy and Management Analysis in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and in 1982-83 he was its director and a member of the National Organized Crime Planning Council. During 1977-1979, Dr. Kleiman served as Deputy Director for Management and Director of Program Analysis for the Office of Management and Budget of the City of Boston. He also serves as the editor of the Drug Policy Analysis Bulletin .In addition to his academic duties, Dr. Kleiman advises the federal and many local governments on crime control and drug policy. He received his Ph.D. in Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1985.
