Doug Kieso is the primary researcher for the organization Families to Amend California's Three Strikes (FACTS). FACTS is a statewide organization who purpose is to amend the 3-Strikes law in California so it is only applicable to violent felonies. Nearly 75% of 2nd and 50% of 3rd strikes within California are for non-violent offenses, which FACTS supporters believe is unjust and harmful to the interests of all Californians.Mr. Kieso is an attorney and currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California at Irvine in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society. He is the web master for the FACTS web site, which is located at: www.facts1.com. The organization recently published its top 100 unjust Three Strike cases, the details of which are archived on their web site. Mr. Kieso is currently working on upcoming articles on 3-strikes reform and his dissertation, which he also hopes to have published as a book.
