| Biography | Mary Barr's insights on substance abuse and related justice system policies have been featured on national television, radio and in print media for which she has also served as a consultant. Her articles on these topics are featured in various publications and in her upcoming book, "Criminal Treatment." Ms. Barr has been a featured speaker on Capitol Hill and in conferences, conventions and universities internationally. Her lectures on substance abuse as a public health issue have been featured in Yale School of Public Health, Montefiore Medical Center, The Harm Reduction Training Institute, and in reports for ASTHO and The Committee on Women, Population and the Environment. Her transitional curriculum is featured in jails and prisons, for which she is the first private citizen to receive the STEP Medal of Honor from NYC Corrections. She has been unanimously lauded by these groups as having given them a fresh perspective on crime and punishment, life and the pursuit of happiness. |
