| Biography | Dale Gieringer is the Coordinator of the California State Chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), a position he has held since 1987. He is also a member of the national NORML Board of Directors, and Co-Director of the California Drug Policy Coalition. Through California NORML he has sponsored research and written publications on numerous aspects of the marijuana issue including drug testing, marijuana and driving and accident safety, health risks of cannabis use, and harm reduction techniques for marijuana smokers He recently sponsored a study of marijuana-smoking filtration devices.Mr. Gieringer was one of the original organizers of Proposition 215, the successful 1996 medical marijuana initiative. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Engineering-Economic Systems at Stanford University in 1984. His thesis was on the issue of consumer choice and FDA drug regulation. |
