Biography

Dr. Dawn Day is the Director of the Dogwood Center, an independent research center in Princeton, New Jersey. Dr. Day is an activist scholar with 30 years experience as a researcher and writer on social issues. Dr. Day is the author of Health Emergency series on the spread of drug-related AIDS Among African-Americans and Latinos, The reports have included an introduction by the former Surgeon General, Dr. Joycelyn Elders. The reports have provided powerful support for needle exchanges in African-American and Latino communities. They have been widely disseminated and quoted by policy makers, reform advocates and members of the media. Dr. Day's research on needle exchange and harm reduction are part of her broader concern with the negative social impacts of the drug war. She has brought these issues to public attention through articles, lectures, and television and radio appearances.
